Principal's Message

Dear Mark Twain Families,

I hope you and your family are doing well.  As principal this year, I am very excited to welcome to Mark Twain, the former Jordan Adult Transition Program (ATP) students, our incoming ATP students, our students who have been attending Mark Twain and all of our families. We are ready to start the school year and greet our students on August 11, our first day of school.

During the 2024-2025 school year at Mark Twain, our district built two classroom buildings, an administrative building, two shade structures, and new basketball courts. This expansion supports our students’ growth in our three district goals: academic skills, personal skills and lifelong success.   New equipment has been installed to support the continued development of our students’ self-help skills (e.g., cooking stations, dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers).  In addition, we have a sensory room, specialized library, recreation room, and ATP Works program.  All of our students will have access to a wide range of opportunities across our campus.  Bringing all of these services and support staff together onto one campus allows us to maximize resources.  We are excited about this campus expansion and all it will mean for our students, staff, and families.

Now that ATP is solely at Mark Twain, all ATP students will have the same start and end time.  Students in grades K-12 will continue the schedule from last school year.

If you have questions at any point throughout the year, please email me (jsparks@ggusd.us) or call the office (714-663-6050).  On behalf of the staff at Mark Twain School, we wish you and your family a wonderful year.

Sincerely,

Joell Sparks
